Fluent Readers




- Read a wide range of texts for different purposes
- Read and undestands more challenging vocabulary
- Often emulate authors in their writing
- Can synthesize and interpret what is read
- Read much longer; more complex text.

Transitional Readers





- Recognizes an increasing number of words
- Consistently monitors Reading for understanding
- Relies very Little on illustrations t oread text
- Reads longer, more complex text.



Emergent Reader


As regards to reading skill we can find several levels that characterize readers. For instance, there are emergent, transitional and fluent readers.



Emergent readers are recognized due to the following aspects:

-          Inconsistent.
-          They take time to read.
-          Little attention to punctuation.
They are building their fluency.

Characteristics of good teacher


-          Always foster students’ expactations about Reading
-          Ask warmp questions about this skill.
-          Take into consideration the linguistic competence of the students.
-          Try to provide readings that stimulate the students to keep Reading beyond the language classroom
-          Plan Reading lessons
-          Contribute with a good attitude towards Reading so that students can be motivated.
